Construction work is underway for a new outlet mall in the city. During an official groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning, Ivanhoe Cambridge and partners launched construction work for Outlet Collection Winnipeg.
Deputy Premier Kerri Irvin-Ross and city councillor Marty Morantz were also at the ceremony. The new outlet mall is going up in the north-west quadrant of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway. The $200 million project is a first for Winnipeg.
“Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be a destination in itself. It will also be a bit larger than initially announced. The centre will now include over 400,000 square feet of pure outlet shopping experience and more than 100 outlet brands,” said Paul Gleeson, the vice president of global development at Ivanhoe Cambridge.
Work is officially underway on Winnipeg’s first premium fashion outlet mall.
The developer behind the $200-million Outlet Collection Winnipeg mall — Ivanhoé Cambridge — held an official grand opening ceremony this morning at the site, which is on the northwest corner of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway across from the IKEA store.
The 400,000-square-foot indoor mall will boast more than 100 stores featuring leading and brand-name fashion items at 25 to 75 per cent off regular retail prices. Set to open in May 2017, it will be the anchor tenant in the new 117-acre Outlets of Seasons development being built by Regina-based Harvard Developments and Forster Projects.

City council officially welcomed Regina’s newest neighbourhood with a stamp of approval Monday night. Westerra is a 200-hectare, 7,500-resident, mixed-used development planned for the land between Dewdney and 13th avenues, and Courtney Street and Pinkie Road. “It’s an exciting new development for the city. It shows that we’re on the path for continued growth,” said Mayor Michael Fougere.
Blair Forster of Forster Projects, one of the partners on Westerra, said this neighbourhood will be Regina’s first truly complete community. “It’s got retail options, employment options, a diversity of housing stock, it’s the closest suburban community to downtown Regina, and it’s surrounded by employment opportunities for its residents,” he said. REGINA — Regina developers will be shouldering more of the burden when it comes to expanding the city. At its Monday night meeting, council adopted an interim phasing and financial plan, in place for the next two years.
While the number of houses going up will stay around the same, only three out of the six new developments pegged to bring Regina’s population to 300,000 by 2040 will go ahead — Westerra, Harbour Landing West, and a new neighbourhood north of Lakeridge.
As Regina chases its goal of achieving 300,000 residents, the city’s growth becomes a tightrope walk of responding to the demands for housing without toppling over. Preparing to add more than 65,000 people requires one strategic trait more than any other.Read More…
