East Regina is in line for an eight-screen cinema complex (LeaderPost)

Calgary-based Landmark Cinemas Canada and local partners Forster Projects and Harvard Developments said Thursday they hope to have the 880-seat complex open for the spring of 2018.

It will be part of the 750,000 square-foot Aurora retail-restaurant complex being developed by the two local firms on the southwest corner of the intersection of Victoria Avenue East and the new Regina Bypass. Read More…

Westerra unveils plans for Horizons commercial development (You’re Home Magazine)

The creation of the Westerra neighbourhood all began with a plan – the City of Regina’s Official Community Plan (OCP) that is. As the City was developing its OCP – a long-term plan that provides direction for managing future growth, development and change in the community to a future population of 300,000 residents and beyond – real estate developers Forster Projects Inc. and Harvard Communities were using the same metrics in the planning process for the Westerra neighbourhood. Located in the west end of Regina, Westerra is a 490-acre community billed as “A New Neighbourhood: Designed Differently.”

A European invasion (Winnipeg Free Press)

…Blair Forster, president of Regina-based Forster Projects Inc., who along with Regina’s Harvard Developments and Ivanhoe Cambridge, is developing the Outlet Collection at Winnipeg factory outlet mall in southwest Winnipeg. The outlet mall, slated to open in May of next year, is the first in the city and is the anchor tenant in Harvard and Forster’s Seasons development, which includes a mix of retail, office and multi-family residential buildings.

Forster wouldn’t reveal which fashion retailers are coming to the outlet mall. Although the 385,000-square-foot outlet mall is about 50 per cent pre-leased, he said tenant names won’t be announced until shortly before the mall opens. Read More…

Work on Hilton hotel project gets underway with eye to 2017 opening

Another key piece has been added to one of the city’s most talked-about new commercial developments. Winnipeg’s SK Developments Inc. has confirmed it will build a $35-million, four-star Hilton Garden Inn on the northeast corner of the 117-acre Seasons retail/office/hotel/residential development in southwest Winnipeg. Work on the hotel project got underway Friday.

Project manager Kyle Kostenuk of Thomas Design Builders Ltd. said the 127-room, six-storey hotel is expected to open in August next year.  Although it will initially have 127 rooms, the plan is to add another 44 rooms within two years of the facility opening.

A hotel was high on the wish list for Seasons co-developers Regina-based Harvard Developments Inc. and Forster Projects Inc. Although it’s been known for some time it would be a Hilton hotel, the exact brand of Hilton and the name of the developer had not been released. Read More…

Calgary-based chain wants to open four outlets in city

Another player is entering the highly competitive coffee-retailing market in Winnipeg.

Good Earth Coffeehouse, a Calgary-based chain with 45 locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, hopes to open as many as four coffeehouses in Winnipeg over the next two to three years, company co-founder and CEO Michael Going said.

“Once we come into a new market, we definitely open a few locations. We don’t saturate the marketplace like some other brands… but we’d certainly like to open three or four additional locations in Winnipeg over the next couple of years.”

Going said Good Earth has already finalized a deal to be one of the retail tenants in a new 15,500-square-foot, mixed-use complex that will be part of phase 1 of the 117-acre Seasons retail/office/hotel/residential development under construction on the northwest corner of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway.  Seasons, formerly know as the Outlets of Seasons, is being developed by Regina-based Harvard Developments Inc. and Forster Projects Inc. Montreal Eaton Centre, Montreal, QC   During 2016, Montreal Eaton Centre will merge with the space currently known as Complexe Les Ailes to form a single property, and will be the future home to Montreal’s first Saks OFF 5TH store. The 44,840 sq.ft. store will open in the fall of 2018. The Montreal Eaton Centre and Complexe Les Ailes welcome a combined 34 million visitors a year.

Tsawwassen Mills, Tsawwassen, BC   Ivanhoé Cambridge’s third “Mills” project is currently under construction in Tsawwassen, BC. The 32,687 sq. ft. Saks OFF 5TH store will be one of the anchors of the 1.2 million sq.ft. Tsawwassen Mills. The store will welcome its first shoppers at the grand opening of the shopping centre in fall 2016.

New outlet mall coming soon to Winnipeg (CTV Winnipeg)

Construction work is underway for a new outlet mall in the city.  During an official groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning, Ivanhoe Cambridge and partners launched construction work for Outlet Collection Winnipeg.

Deputy Premier Kerri Irvin-Ross and city councillor Marty Morantz were also at the ceremony.  The new outlet mall is going up in the north-west quadrant of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway.  The $200 million project is a first for Winnipeg.

“Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be a destination in itself. It will also be a bit larger than initially announced. The centre will now include over 400,000 square feet of pure outlet shopping experience and more than 100 outlet brands,” said Paul Gleeson, the vice president of global development at Ivanhoe Cambridge.

Work begins on $200-M mall near Ikea (Winnipeg Free Press)

Work is officially underway on Winnipeg’s first premium fashion outlet mall.

The developer behind the $200-million Outlet Collection Winnipeg mall — Ivanhoé Cambridge — held an official grand opening ceremony this morning at the site, which is on the northwest corner of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway across from the IKEA store.

The 400,000-square-foot indoor mall will boast more than 100 stores featuring leading and brand-name fashion items at 25 to 75 per cent off regular retail prices.  Set to open in May 2017, it will be the anchor tenant in the new 117-acre Outlets of Seasons development being built by Regina-based Harvard Developments and Forster Projects.
